Gili Island Hotels |
Previously visited mostly by divers - the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air) are 3 small islands just off Lombok's northwestern coast. With lovely beaches that are surrounded by coral the islands now attract day trippers for snorkeling and other water sports. What little water there is on islands is brackish - fresh drinking water is brought in.
Far and away the most popular is Gili Trawangan, the furthest west from Lombok's mainland. Surprisingly Gili Trawangan has a wide range lodging on offer - from cheap losmen to mid-range luxury resorts as well as a choice of restaurants and bars that make for a lively holiday. However that said there are not that many rooms available and it fills up quickly especially for the peak season of June through September so book early for that period.
The other two - Gili Meno and Gili Air - have some basic accommodation but you'll be hard pressed for anything much beyond shelter. |
